AGGELOS KARYDIS - OLYMPIA MARE Restaurant (Gouvia Marina, Corfu)06-05-2014 17:30
The way a customer says “goodnight” shows everything…Mr. Karydis give us some information about Olympia Mare.
Olympia Mare, established in 2006, is a beachfront restaurant located in the gifted area of Gouvia Marina, and is a branch of Olympia Restaurant located in Kanalia.
To whom does Olympia Mare address?
The menu of Olympia Mare is based on Corfiot and Mediterranean cuisine. Our customers are locals who want to degust authentic flavors, or to carry out various social events such as baptisms, weddings etc, but also tourists who are in Corfu for holidays and are staying in the Marina, by their private or rented boat.
What is the feedback from your clients?
Everything is posted on the restaurant’s profile on Internet. I believe that the way a customer says “goodnight” shows everything… I've obtained the best smiles from my customers and the most important is that Olympia Mare has a loyal clientele! The reviews for the restaurant are excellent as you can verify by searching on Internet.
What about your own favorite dishes?
My favourite dishes ours are coming from the local cuisine, but this is not obliging as you know every person has its own eating preferences…For example the ideal dish for someone might be a steak about 600 grams but for someone else can be lobster spagetti or pastitsada.. Everything has to do with preferences!
You offer a wide range of wines, tell us about that, we would like to see a little bit in it, what are the wines you suggest and what are those preferred by your customers?
We recommend local Corfiot wines that are descent and products of local vine varieties. In Olympia Mare one can find a large number of selected labels. The wine preferences of our clientele are oriented to Corfiot wines since the visitor of Corfu wants to try something local...
Closing the interview I would like to ask you if Olympia Mare, is close to Corfu town.
The Gouvia Marina is about 7km far from Corfu town and that is an advantage for those who want to visit us.

Two young men, Lefteris Antonakas and Andreas Karapatakis, leave Plomari of Lesvos where they grew up and open a store in the centre of Athens city, with traditional products of the North East Aegean. They create a paradise of local products of Lesvos, Lemnos and Chios, and promote the gastronomic wealth of their homeland. We dipped on the selves of their shop and the senses of smell and taste were absolutely satisfied!
The beach of Agios Georgios in Naxos is one of the most beautiful of the island, easily accessible as it is located in Chora, and the ideal choice for those who hate moving around during the holidays. Those who want to relax next to the wave enjoying the services of a well-organized tourist business.
Sumptuous mansions and humbler vernacular homes arrayed amphitheatrically around the marble-quayed harbour date from the 18th and 19th centuries, when Hydriot seafaring prowess brought great wealth. Despite its high-profile reputation, and the mid-day arrival of “One-Day Saronic Cruises”, the island remains endearingly time-warped.
Visiting the Greek capital for a day or more? These are the things you should not miss! See the most of Athens... on foot!
